Praise Him, Praise Him! Jesus, Our Great Redeemer | Hymn Lyrics, Tune, and About

Praise Him, Praise Him |Hymn Lyrics and Tune

1. Praise him, praise him! Jesus, our blessed redeemer!
Sing, O earth, his wonderful love proclaim!
Hail him, hail him! Highest archangels in glory!
Strength and honor give to his holy name!
Like a shepherd, Jesus will guard his children.
In his arms he carries them all day long.

Refrain:
Praise him! Praise him! tell of his excellent greatness.
Praise him! Praise him! ever in joyful song.

2. Praise him, praise him! Jesus, our blessed redeemer!
For our sins, he suffered, and bled, and died.
He our rock, our hope of eternal salvation,
hail him, hail him! Jesus, the crucified.
Sound his praises, Jesus who bore our sorrows,
love unbounded, wonderful, deep, and strong. [Refrain]

3. Praise him, praise him! Jesus, our blessed redeemer!
Heav’nly portals loud with hosannas ring!
Jesus, Savior, reigneth forever and ever!
Crown him, crown him! prophet, and priest, and king!
Christ is coming, over the world victorious.
Pow’r and glory unto the Lord belong. [Refrain]

About the Hymn Praise Him Praise Him

Hymn writer: Fanny Crosby (1820-1915)
Year: 1869
Category: Hymn of Praise

Fanny Crosby's biography is one of the most amazing stories of any individual who made history. She wasn't born blind but by age 6, Fanny lost the light of her body to poor treatment when she fell sick and unfortunately taken to a bad physician. Every effort to restore her vision proved abortive. After several trials, a young girl who once could see accepted her fate to lead the rest of her life as a blind person. In her statement, she said:

"Oh, what a happy soul am I! Although I can not see, I have resolved that in this world, contented I will be."

Crosby was able to further her studies even as a blind person and later became a teacher at the New York Institute for the Blind. She worked in the school for two years from 1847-1858 teaching English grammar and American history.

Even as a teacher, Fanny Crowsby dedicated most of her life to writing Christian hymns and became one of the greatest hymn writers in American history and among the top women who have written most Christian hymns.

Praise Him, Praise Him is not her only popular hymn. Hymns like Pass Me Not Oh Gentle Savior, I am Thine, I Lord, Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross, among others were also written by Fanny Crosby.
